Nsoatreman FC Owner Opens Up On Challenges Of Running A Football Club In Ghana

Bankroller of Nsoatreman Football Club, Ignatius Baffour Awuah has expressed his frustrations at owning and managing a football club in Ghana.

Nsoatreman football club is a Ghanaian Premier League club currently representing the country in CAF’s Confederations cup after winning the domestic MTN FA cup at the tail end of last season.

The team’s impressive performance qualified them from the first preliminary round to the second preliminary round where they suffered a 2:0 defeat against Algerian side CS Constantine at the Accra sports stadium.

Ignatius Baffour Awuah, who is a member of parliament for Sunyani West constituency and doubles as the minister of employment and labor relations has singled handedly financed from the first division to the country’s elite football.

Speaking on the challenges faced as a bankroller, the Member of Parliament said;

“The least said about it (Ghana Football), the better because it’s really challenging to do football in Ghana. We must improve on officiating, marketing and sponsorships because the clubs are really suffering”. He told Akoma FM.

“My only source of joy and motivation is when I see Nsoatreman FC win matches, that’s what keeps me going, I am not in this to make wealth for myself”. He added.

Nsoatreman FC will travel to Algeria to play CS Constantine in the return leg of their CAF Confederations cup second preliminary round game this weekend.
